Exploring South Korea: Reflections from the Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The trip commenced from 3rd November 24 till 12th November 2024
                                                   
South Korea, located in East Asia on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula, is a nation rich in history, culture, and technological advancement. Bordered by North Korea to the north, the country is made up of vibrant cities that blend traditional heritage with cutting-edge innovation. Key cities such as Seoul, Busan, and Incheon are hubs of activity, each offering a unique glimpse into modern Korean life, as well as its storied past.
During our eight-day journey, we explored the bustling capital of Seoul, the scenic beauty of Jeju Island, and the coastal charm of Busan. While South Korea has made great strides in development, it faces several challenges, including an aging population, economic inequalities, and a rising geopolitical tension due to its proximity to North Korea. These issues present complex hurdles for the government and challenge the fabric of daily life for many Koreans.
Despite these challenges, South Korea offers countless reasons to visit. Below are ten compelling reasons why those who haven’t experienced this remarkable country should consider making the trip:
1. **Rich Culture and History**: Explore ancient temples, palaces, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites that tell the story of Korea’s past.

Genieve observed that Koreans display an immense pride in their country. Despite having faced the atrocities of war, they have bounced back with advanced technology and a revived economy.

“If there is Paradise on Earth, it is here, it is here, it is here”

Immortal words by Emperor Shah Jahan, does ample justice to the beautiful union territory of Kashmir. Kashmir is the northernmost geographical region of the Indian subcontinent and continuing with their time honoured tradition, the CCCI conducted a trip to Kashmir, in association with LÓrient Travels, headed by their dynamic and ever enterprising MD Mr. Hector D’souza.

The tour began on 06 April Saturday with us reaching Srinagar by 13:50 and checked into the Hotel Solar Residency. We went for a shikara ride on Dal Lake in the evening.

Next day, we visited the Chasmeshahi Garden – famous Mughal Garden, the Nehru Botanical Gardens, and the Nishat Bagh. After lunch to Tulip Garden(Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden),the largest tulip garden in Asia.

The following day, we left for Gulmarg, where we experienced the World’s highest cable car ride. Late afternoon we undertook a walk to enjoy the salubrious, serene beauty of Gulmarg located at 2650 meters above sea level, offering a fabulous view of the snow clad Ararwat Mountains.

On 09 April Tuesday, we visited Pahalgam, famous for its scenic beauty and is the jewel of the picturesque Liddar valley in the high Himalayas.

On 10 April, we visited the Betaab valley, which is a gorgeous expanse by the Lidder river, offering panoramic views of the Himalayas and the Aru Valley, noted for its scenic meadows, lakes and mountains, it is a base camp for trekking to the Kolhoi Glacier& Chandanwari , which is known for its stunning scenery and is a popular destination for tourists from all over the world.

On 11 April Thursday, we drove to Srinagar via Martand Sun Temple at Anantnag, and 12th April, we departed from Kashmir. The CCCI is grateful to Mr. Hector D’Souza for making all the arrangements possible, for all his hard work in drawing up an itinerary and creating beautiful memories, that will ever be cherished and imprinted in our hearts and minds for many years to come.

VISIT TO THE TIGER CAVE TEMPLE ALONG WITH TRAVEL TO THE SOFT WHITE SAND BEACHES , SMALL
COVES AND OFFSHORE ISLANDS LEFT US IN AWE OF THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE.

KOI SAMUI THE NEXT DESTINATION WAS TRULY TOURIST PARADISE. THE BLUE SKIES AND EMERALD
CLEAR WATERS LEFT US SPELL BOUND. SCUBA- DIVING, SNORKELING, SPEEDBOAT TOURS, CANOE,
KAYAKING, SWIMMING WERE SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES THAT A FEW OF THE MEMBERS PARTICIPATED
AND THOROUGHLY ENJOYED. EVERY MEMBER WOULD AGREE THAT THE KOI SAMUI AIRPORT CAN BE
CALLED ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND WELL DESIGNED AIRPORT IN THE WORLD IN TUNE WITH ITS NATURAL SURROUNDINGS.

THE CARNIVAL SHOW AT PHUKET CITY WAS A UNIQUE THAI EXPERIENCE. THE GRAND BUFFET IN THE
SPECTACULAR DINING AREA AND THE CULTURAL SHOW OF THE ARTISTS WERE AMAZING AND LEFT US
IN AWE. THE PHI PHI ISLANDS AND MAYA BAY TRIP BY LONG TAIL BOAT WAS ADVENTUROUS AND ENJOYABLE.

TUK-TUK RIDES, NIGHT OUTS AT BANGLA STREET, MASSAGE SALONS, LUNCHES AND DINNERS WITH
FRESHEST LOCAL VEGETABLES AND THE SWEETEST TROPICAL FRUITS, BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS ,
