South Korea, located in East Asia on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula, is a nation rich in history, culture, and technological advancement. Bordered by North Korea to the north, the country is made up of vibrant cities that blend traditional heritage with cutting-edge innovation. Key cities such as Seoul, Busan, and Incheon are hubs of activity, each offering a unique glimpse into modern Korean life, as well as its storied past.
During our eight-day journey, we explored the bustling capital of Seoul, the scenic beauty of Jeju Island, and the coastal charm of Busan. While South Korea has made great strides in development, it faces several challenges, including an aging population, economic inequalities, and a rising geopolitical tension due to its proximity to North Korea. These issues present complex hurdles for the government and challenge the fabric of daily life for many Koreans.
Despite these challenges, South Korea offers countless reasons to visit. Below are ten compelling reasons why those who haven’t experienced this remarkable country should consider making the trip:
