In alignment with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, WeSchool successfully hosted a thought-provoking workshop titled “Building Leadership through Skill Development in Future Generations through Academics” on August 1, 2025, at the Taj Intercontinental, Mumbai. The event convened distinguished personalities from the fields of law, academia, and industry, including eminent dignitaries and legal luminaries from across Maharashtra.
Viksit Bharat @2047 – The Broader Vision
The workshop resonated strongly with the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat @2047 initiative, a visionary roadmap that aspires to transform India into a developed nation by its centenary of independence in 2047. Centered on four key pillars—Youth (Yuva), Poor (Garib), Women (Mahilayen), and Farmers (Annadata)—the mission emphasizes inclusive development, employment-led growth, and sustainable progress. Education and skill development are viewed as critical enablers in achieving this transformative goal.
Insights from Eminent Personalities: The workshop was chaired by Hon’ble Retd. Chief Justice of India, Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud, who underscored the importance of ethical leadership and the pivotal role academic institutions play in nurturing future changemakers. His keynote address provided valuable insights into how value systems and moral integrity can be integrated into leadership education.
Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Director of WeSchool, moderated the session. He highlighted the need for an interdisciplinary approach in education to equip future leaders with diverse perspectives and adaptive thinking, essential for navigating an evolving global landscape.
Address by the Resource Person: The workshop’s resource person, Mr. Albert W. D’Souza, Chairman of the St. John Technical and Educational Campus (Palghar) and the Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, delivered a compelling talk on the need for value-based education. He emphasized how skill development initiatives can effectively bridge the existing gap between academic curricula and the demands of the modern workforce.
A Platform for Dialogue and Innovation: The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from educators, students, entrepreneurs, and policy influencers, creating a vibrant platform for discussion around holistic leadership development. The workshop catalyzed conversations on how academic institutions can integrate skill-based learning and character-building into mainstream education to prepare India’s youth for future leadership roles.
Conclusion
The workshop reaffirmed the importance of academia-industry-government collaboration in building a self-reliant, inclusive, and empowered India. As the nation moves steadily towards its centenary goal of Viksit Bharat, such initiatives serve as foundational blocks in shaping a skilled, ethical, and visionary generation of leaders.
